On Top of Delicious

I've often suspected that dad has some preternatural bond with the white corn agnolotti filled with greens, grandpa with sweet and sour bream and grandma with the red soybean su ji.Now I'm wondering about mom and the freshwater prawn.Whoaaaaaa! So yummy,I bet there's no one coaxing better from it than she.

Yung-sytle Cooking

This week Heidi is looking at pork as the theme.
I actually quite like pork in dishes, but a lot of westerners dont use too much pork in cooking becuase of it's "particular" flavour.
Well, the porky flavour is normally way too strong. That's why my family put the meat into the boiler and boil them before "official" cooking. Usually,we do the same thing to many kinds of meat, specially for those strong odor, for example, lamb. In this way,the "particular" flavor is thrown off.
And at the same time,it also saves the time of cooking.
Btw,dont forgot put ginger, shallots and cooking wine because they really kill any of that smell.

Rain Wreaks Havoc

The weathercast reported Shanghai would be showered every day in the coming days.It seems that July is closing with rain, and Augest will open with the same kind of weather.Look out of the window, the threatened water famine has become a thing of past, the storm is now sprinkling the city hard.Well,I like this feeling--summer vacation with rain.

Joie de vivre

Why eat indoors when you can grab a blanket, fill a picnic basket and enjoy the great outdoors? It's tangy BBQ time.Picnic is relaxed and casual.Usually I dont create a big meal, just eat simple foods. In other words,it's not elaborate. So I dont need a lot of time to prepare.I go picnic because I wanna be "fresh".I probably wear very comfortable clothes coz it's not a formal event.I wanna be outdoors, not do very much, enjoy the scenery, even stretch out and take a nap after lunch. How wonderful!

Fairies Wear Hats

I had a hard time shopping at a hat boutique---because of the wide variety of hats it carries. It has feather hats, satin hats, suede and hats trimmed with silk flowers, sequins and rhinestones.I intended to buy just one,but I favored three elegant hats,sigh...it was really a torturous job to choose only one to wear.In the end,I chose a sassy one, which I couldnot resist buying.Hats are designed to avoid sun radiation while also complementing the face,in other words,I believe hats can add glamour and mystery. So I'd like to keep my hat on.

Hello from Bristol

Last night a friend said something interesting to me,such like CCTV cameras are like security cameras that film them all,it's like the big brother watching over them in the UK 24 hours a day.(Ya know in UK they have more CCTV cameras on the streets than any other country)They were used to it,and the good thing is that those cameras capture people commiting crimes.Wow....CCTV finally got a good reputation overseas. And he experienced a thrilling and excited Balloon Fiesta.
I watched that festival video on youtube, madly love it.Bristol without balloons would be like London without the red buses.

Trompe L’oeil

They say that when the Greek gods were bored, they invented humans.Still bored, they invented love. That wasnot boring,so they tried it themselves. All along,I didnot think Greek gods know what is love, they were immutable though. They only had the ground rules going for them----Lust and Power.Lately, however, I'm getting really horny thinking of Alex.Well, platonic love may not be so platonic in fact.I realize "Project Plato" doesnot work on me at all.
I'm always V-lust and Alex is always X-power,and we are always in character.

Rolling Love

Today I am talking about leftover rice re-use. Sounding frugal, huh? But I think I should minimum my requirement for food spending.Sometimes I dont eat much rice the first time around, left a lot sitting in the fridge, drying and hardening as the days go by.I'm not fond of burgers, and always unwilling to prepare an elaborate dinner. So I tried traditional fried rice tonight, throwing eggs, shallots and garlic into pan along with those little white grains.Hmmm, very delicious and very simple to cook.

Rock Opera

This afternoon I experienced a hit musical I never had before--Jesus Christ Superstar. But I'm not crazy for it,well,it is one of the few blockbuster musicals, mostly because I'm not a Rock 'n' Roll fan.
Whatever, the music is indeed good I have to admit.Even more,it's a monument in musical history. And I won't disrespect Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber simply for they have a different view, though
I dont buy what the opera's selling.
Hmmm,if everyone agreed everyone,life would be boring.lol

Mens et Manus

Sometimes I deem gifted is everything, such like my idol Wiebke Denecke, she masters 11 languages! It's a logical conviction--"talented" at learning does have the edge. And nothing beats having it all:high IQ,good analytic skills, being creative, positive character traits and work hard.Without doubt, those add up to excellent odds for success. Now the despair grips me,sigh...perhaps in part because I know my character traits donot bode well for the future.

The Ultimate Roof

Other men said they've seen angels
cause man can't live by bread alone
But I have seen Gianlorenzo Bernini
----the son of a humble sculptor

Upon the roof of despair
complete with broken love affairs
He shouted his passion above the roar
roaring waves of thundering thrust

It's him that makes the world whole
It's him makes the world fairy-tale
How can I describe his gorgeous?
Nothing's perfect other than his great.

(PS:Bernini disfigured the face of his mistress, well, she cheated on him.Sigh, learning how to constructively release angry is essential.)

Bon appétit

There are some street corners in Shanghai where can I stand and see, two, even three,KFC stores competing for the business. It is obvious that kind of saturation wouldnot last--I wish.Well, investors seem indifferent to the competition coz the market here is so thriving.People fan western food, western cosmetic, western cars,sigh...everything western to be exact.

Jove

It's sweet now looking back
Through all the books he wrote
Far and close,it seemed to me

He is arrogant,he is cocksure
But also sensitive and understanding
He's like thunder,
lightning up the way I'm thinking

There's a feeling I cannot explain
Like what is fate and what is roc's egg
I keep him as a myth, which I am addict to
And I know I like him dearly...

Faux world studio

I think walls have emotions if their coverings arenot just a simple coat of paint but resemble fine art.Though that row of identical houses may all look the same on the outside,I would like to set inner-home apart. In history nobility hired artists to decorate walls. And today people want that wow, too. But my passion for mural is by instinct, not because decoration is in vogue. To me,it has moved beyond wallpaper and works of art to a deeper emotionalism. When I was a little girl, none told me to do this fresco working,I only had a dream--if walls could talk.

Bon anniversaire

I love little kitty her coat is so warm,
and if I dont hurt her she'll do me no harm.
I'll sit by the fire and give her some food,
and kitty will love me because I am good.
I'll pat pretty kitty and then she will purr,
And thus show her thanks for my kindness to her.
So I'll not pull her tail nor drive her away.
But kitty and I very gently will play.
(ps: a nursey rhyme for you,my cute SnowWhite)

Vive l'amitié

Whenever a friend from my past comes back into my life,it stirs up all sorts of floating emotions.
He
He is like a poem,
a pastoral poem to be exact.
Or maybe like a chanson,
softly soaring through my atmosphere.
He is like an owl,
both beautiful and wise.
Or perhaps he is like phantom,
whose spirit never dies...
(PS:Eric has been frustrated with his dissertation and the defense was delayed from March to May to July, now to never-know-when.Cheer up,dear.Everything will be okay.)

L'envie d'aimer

This afternoon,I had a nap and then woke up in floods of tears.Though the dream I had was very vague,I did know it was a sad story. What happened in my dream hasnot happened in real life yet.But in it I was crying so hard coz the intensity was so overwhelming and I really couldnot help it at all.A lot of my dreams consist of Alex leaving me.Well, problems crop up all the time and,I cannot expect my road of love to be smooth.

Nous la Liberté

Leave the gossip alone, unless I want to be accused of being a blabber mouth.I feel everything on the internet is unsafe, especially after MySpace was shut down. The reason why closed down my msn blog is absolutely ridiculous--I did put a piece of X-rated Ukiyoe there, but that pic is very small and absolutely state-of-the-art.It is soooooo unfair! That means I have no rights or any chances to exhibit my great works on my own soul-room,I am good at painting naked women tho.

Ce que mes yeux ont vu

I hardly think Virgin Territory constitutes a comedy for me,I laughed out loud tho. The plot is based on one tale of Decameron written by 14-century Italian writer Giovanni Boccaccio. There are a few witty one-liners,but most of the humor is pretty stale and dry. Whatever,I have to admit I love this film coz the landscape, architectures and actors are gorgeous. And I think profane story is OK,so long as it is instructive, educated people to serve the polis, and turns the soul to beauty and truth.

Queen of Debt

Did the French Queen,Marie Antoinette, really ever actually utter the phrase "Let them eat cake"?Supposedly, she spoke these words upon hearing how the peasantry had no bread to eat and then led up to the French Revolution. However,"let them eat brioche" isnot quite as cold a sentiment as I imagined.Information shows at that time,French law required bakers to sell fancy breads at the same low price as the plain breads if they ran out of the latter. The goal was to prevent bakers from making very little cheap bread and then profiting off the fancy, expensive bread. But I am still quite confused.Didnot they make bread at home by themselves? If there wasnot enough plain bread to go around, how could the poor eat the fancy ones since the prices were the same?I cannot believe they preferred the tasteless food.

Je te kiffe grave

I dont know what to say.Well,I love my old blog very much.I created my dear diary three years ago and kept writing something every day since last year. But this morning,it was destroyed without reason.By now I have not received any notice telling me why.I guess the problem might be I posted an articel after watching the funny French movie Chinois à Paris, Les (1974). Political issues are dangerous.Even if you dont touch that subject on purpose.
